With this short project I wanted to create an obsolete system that requires participation to be complete. The System of wind up toy itself is complete only with human engagement, it was important for me to find something tactile which the audience could easily engage with , as well as providing interest through movement.
The very design of the toys serve as representations of our consumer culture created by the capitalist system, and the degradation of manufacturing standards and ethics through mass production and greed.
The system relies on how long humans choose to engage with it, how much they wind, and how long they watch.
Addition of camera, and projectors represent the ever present creep of technology which itself will one day become obsolete. It also removes the toy object away from itself, its projection is not necessary, but plays with the idea of scale and how we remove our actions from the consequence s of a system.
